The time of thick foundation creams that hide skin imperfections is a thing of the past. The latest cosmetics do not turn the face into an impenetrable mask; they cleverly correct defects, create the ideal tone and do not deprive the makeup of its naturalness.
These beauty assistants will work more efficiently if you use little-known tricks of makeup artists when creating your makeup. The collected secrets will act like Photoshop!
Concealer Makeup Basics
The main weapon against wrinkles on the face is high-quality and correctly chosen powder, as well as concealer and blush, the use of which will divert attention from imperfections.
The main stages of camouflage makeup:
- At the initial stage, you need to cleanse your facial skin with light milk, micellar water or tonic.
- Applying a makeup base (primer) that will even out the skin and fill in small wrinkles. This stage is important, because with the right foundation, the foundation will be applied perfectly without clogging the pores.
- Solving facial texture problems that persist after applying a leveling foundation using corrector and concealer. Nasolabial folds can be disguised using a white pencil.
- Correction of facial tone with foundation.
- Fixing makeup with loose or colorless powder. In addition, you can use a professional makeup fixer.
To disguise imperfections, in no case should you use a foundation, but only a concealer.
Foundation is only necessary to correct the skin tone of the face. The exception is foundation that masks wrinkles, the frequent use of which is undesirable.
Drawing a sophisticated nose
You can also correct a wide nose or an overly noticeable hump without a scalpel. Let's work on the nose with corrector and highlighter: highlight the back of the nose from the bridge of the nose to the tip, then outline the resulting light area with a dark corrector. However, the line should not be very thick. We also darken the tip of the nose, the bridge between the nostrils and the hollow above the lip. We carefully shade all borders. Ready!

Important application details
How to hide wrinkles under the eyes with makeup:
- You will need to use a water-based concealer that corrects nasolabial folds and noticeable wrinkles. This allows you to visually disguise skin defects.
- Refusal of eyeliner - anti-aging makeup does not allow the use of mascara, eyeliner or pencil to outline the lower eyelid. This is due to the fact that focusing on the lower eyelid only emphasizes wrinkles and imperfections in the skin around the eyes.
- Eyeshadow should preferably be light; it should not be harmoniously combined with the skin of the face, so it is preferable to use pastel colors. Such shadows should be applied to the foundation for long-lasting coloring and to reduce the risk of wrinkles in the bend areas.
Making thin lips juicier
Some women feel that their lips are not full enough: this may be due to their natural shape or age-related changes. A contour pencil, creamy lipstick or thick lip gloss can help here. I advise you to choose warm shades if you need to visually enlarge your lips or correct their asymmetry. We make a clear outline, then shade it with a fluffy brush. If you don't have a brush, a cotton swab will do. Then we apply lipstick with a brush, you can drop a little transparent or pearlescent gloss into the center of the lips and also shade it.
Lovers of red or dark lipsticks, remember: these colors can make your lips look a little smaller, however, if you work out the contour correctly and clearly, you can also achieve the effect of plump lips.
How else to achieve volume: Like Jolie: enlarge your lips with makeup in 5 steps.
Wrinkles under the eyes
One of the most problematic areas is the skin under the eyes, which most often reveals a woman’s age. You can thoroughly hide wrinkles in this area of the face using the already mentioned cream products: concealer, foundation, corrector, as well as serum.
Factors causing wrinkles under the eyes:
- Facial skin changes with age - slowing collagen production and skin cell repair, as well as sagging tissue.
- Insufficient amount of vitamins in the body.
- Improper skin care (drying or excessive moisture).
- Frequent active facial expressions, as a result of which facial wrinkles are formed.
- Natural conditions (hot sun, strong winds and frosts) that lead to dryness and aging of the skin.
- Smoking and drinking alcohol dry out the skin and rob it of nutrients.
- Regular stress and depression lead to blockage of blood vessels and poor circulation.
Concealing wrinkles in the eye area should look natural and not cause discomfort.
What not to do
Since swelling of the limbs, swelling, and puffiness under the eyes are formed as a result of fluid retention in the body, women and men try to solve the problem with diuretics. This decision is wrong and can lead to dangerous consequences - pathology of the kidneys. Any medications should be taken only after consulting a doctor.
To disguise bags and circles with cosmetics it is not recommended:
- Line your eyes completely with eyeliner, especially if it is dark shades. Then the eye shape will noticeably narrow.
- Apply only the upper eyelid. The look will become stern.
- Unfinished eyebrows. This part of the face is underestimated, but in vain. With beautifully drawn eyebrows, the look becomes complete and the look becomes expressive.
You should also not paint your eyelashes too thickly. Then they will stick together and lumps will form, which will only attract the eye to the problem areas.
Types of cosmetics
Makeup artists recommend using a serum with a lifting effect, which tightens the skin of the face and tightens pores, and also eliminates the effect of aging.
There are certain rules for using serum:
- Apply only to skin cleansed with tonic or milk.
- Apply small drops onto the face, then gently smear from bottom to top of the skin.
- You can apply the serum only once a day.
Concealer for wrinkles under the eyes can practically eliminate existing wrinkles. It is very important that it is of high quality, since it is then that all the consequences of improper skin care under the eyes can be negated.
A foundation is also effective; when purchasing it, you must take into account the type and characteristics of your skin.
Makeup artists also give advice on how to hide wrinkles with makeup if there is no need for professional cosmetics. For example, use filler creams that are intended exclusively for masking small networks of wrinkles.
Getting rid of the impending century
Did you draw arrows, apply eyelashes, but the effect of heavy, “downcast” eyes still remains? All because I forgot about the fold of the upper eyelid.
Use dry shadows to blend up to the brow line. Then we take the cream and put it in the crease of the eyelid - this will fix the result. Then, above the orbital bone, we begin to draw an imitation of the eyelid. At the end, we put a satin shade or shadows with shimmer in the center of the eyelid - a highlight is needed there. It is best to use beige and brown shadows.

Folk recipes
In addition to cosmetics, bags under the eyes can be removed using folk remedies. Naturally, when choosing how to remove bags under the eyes, many people choose popular store-bought products. But considering how many fragrances and synthetic materials are included in their composition, the problem can only get worse.
Folk recipes
Home methods are no less effective, these can be:
- compresses;
- decoctions;
- masks;
- lotions;
- infusions;
- gymnastics.
The most effective and popular recipes are:
- Mask made from raw egg whites , whipped to a smooth, thick foam. The resulting mass must be applied to the lower eyelid area and left until completely dry, then rinsed with warm water and moisturized with cream.
- Compress made of milk and chopped parsley. Mix all ingredients until porridge, wrap in gauze and apply to problem areas for no more than 20 minutes.
- Boiled pumpkin. Pieces of this vegetable need to be cooled and applied under the eyes. For a better effect, it is advisable to wipe it with green tea bags afterwards.
- Potato. You can use it in absolutely any form; applying it to the lower eyelids for just 15 minutes is enough to significantly reduce swelling.
- Infusion of chamomile, mint, string, linden flowers. Pour the entire mixture with 1 tbsp. boiling water and leave for half an hour. Next, moisten cotton pads with the infusion and apply to the swelling. The result will be noticeable almost immediately.
- Cucumber mask. You will need one fresh cucumber, which should be washed and cut into 2 parts. For the mask, use 2 pieces from its middle part. Applying them for 15-20 minutes can reduce swelling and moisturize the skin.
- Mask of soda and milk. Mix 4 tbsp in 100 g of warm milk. l. soda The resulting mixture is infused in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. Before application, it is advisable to apply it to the back of the hand to avoid an allergic reaction. To reduce swelling, apply the mask for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Subtleties of choosing concealers
Like any other cosmetic product, correctors can cause irritation to the skin. A preliminary test for an allergic reaction will help reduce the risk of their occurrence. Brand palettes include different shades of the same pigment color. Fair-skinned girls should choose light-colored correctors; dark-skinned girls should choose more saturated colors from the palette.
There are many types of concealers, and the choice of product primarily depends on the purpose of use:
- The pencil has a dense structure and is suitable for correcting minor problems: freckles, minor redness and pimples. (NYX, AVON, Faberlic);
- Tube with a brush It has a liquid texture that perfectly combats many imperfections in appearance. It can be used spot-on and on large surfaces of the skin. (MaxFactor, Mizon Correct Concealer, NYX Concealer Magic Wand);
- The product with a paste-like consistency in tubes is a universal version of the product. The average density of the cosmetic product makes it convenient to use over large areas. Lightens pigmentation and dark spots, makes capillary meshwork, spider veins and rosacea less noticeable. Easily mixes with other color pigments to create new tonal variations. (Shiseido natural finish cream concealer, DERMABLEND (shade no. 25) from Vichy)

The best and worst budget concealers:
Having tested about a million concealers that cost no more than 1,200 rubles, we found out who is really a friend who can hide all our cracks, and who is just pretending.
As part of the large-scale experiment “A Month on Budget Cosmetics,” Yulia, Lena and Yana Z. tested a few concealers and correctors.
This is approximately how much:
And so much more:
Oh, and here it is:
Well, and about 20 other little things that were not included in the shooting because our photographers ran out of film :)
Each of us chose our favorites and outsiders, depending on our own requirements.
Julia: “I use concealers 100% of the time for the area around the eyes, plus sometimes on the wings of the nose. And for me two parameters are important - good masking abilities and some light reflection. If the first is adequately implemented, then you can do without the second :) In the luxury range, the densest disguises are mainly provided by concealer-pucks, like my favorite Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer. But in the budget segment, products of a similar format that I came across in stores were either of a terrible color (yellow, Rially?..), or of terrible quality (when you point your finger you understand that they suffer from a lack of plasticity).
I tested mainly classic concealers with a brush or applicator. Many of them were powerless against my bruises - for example, Dream Lumi touch, Maybelline, Healthy Mix Concealer, Bourjois, Hydro Miracle, BeYu, Physician's Formula, Eva Mosaic, both L'Etoile. In general, finding a really well-pigmented budget concealer is quite a quest.”
Lena: “I'm more concerned about puffiness than dark circles, so concealers can't help me much. Although there are days when you can’t live without them. In such cases, I usually reach for Erborian BB Eye, or Estee Lauder Double Wear, or Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, or Skincolor De La Mer (in order of increasing coverage). Among the budget ones, I was looking for a universal one for every day: with light-medium camouflage and light reflection, so that it would not turn yellow or crease. She didn’t ask me to iron my clothes or make coffee in the morning - but few people coped with even the minimum requirements.”
Yana Z.: “Concealers and correctors are products without which I cannot imagine my make-up. I can imagine even without foundation (some concealers can easily be applied all over the face, mixed, for example, with oil or cream) - but without them, I can’t, don’t even ask. I have bruises (though not severe) and wrinkles under my eyes, capillaries and all sorts of other red abominations on my cheeks), and a small pigmented spot on my right cheekbone at the top. And below on the cheekbones there are some spots that can be considered pigmented, or can be mistaken for uneven coloring. If you cover it all up, I’m beautiful :). Just have to cover it up!) I’m not looking for concealers with the most bulletproof camouflage, I simply don’t need one, I value more good light-reflective abilities, plasticity and durability.”
We divided all concealers/correctors according to the degree of concealment. Durability, density and ability for light reflection/blurring were taken into account as additional factors.
Light degree of camouflage
- Concealer Healthy Mix Anti-Fatigue, Bourjois (515 RUR) - “Not the highest covering power, but good brightening and reflective qualities, the skin perceives it very comfortably,” - Yana Z.
- Nordic Chic Under Eye Concealer, Lumene (950 RUR) - “More like an illuminator than a concealer. And it maximizes wrinkles rather than dark circles. But, if the bruises are not critical, it will make them less noticeable. The best reflective characteristics, maximum comfort, and the case when the declared care qualities are really felt,” Yana Z.
- Concealer Miracle Touch, Art-Visage (149 rubles) - “Even before the project with budget cosmetics, I came across a good concealer at a ridiculous price - something like 150 rubles. Because of my absent-mindedness, it was hopelessly lost. I wanted to get a new one, but the popular shades at the Golden Apple were sold out. If you meet him, keep in mind that he’s really not bad.” – Lena
- Concealer-primer for eyelids Super CC Blurring CC Eye Cream SPF30, Physician's Formula (RUB 799) – “Not really a concealer. There is practically no camouflage, and that is due to deblurring. Not quite universal, I understand. But it has a strong SPF 30. I usually apply it to both the lower and upper eyelids to slightly even out the skin color, hide small blood vessels and prevent the sun from killing precious collagen and elastin,” Lena.
Average degree of camouflage
- Sport Addicted Sweat Resistant Cream Concealer, Pupa (RUB 770) “It doesn’t look super-dense, but the dark circles under your eyes don’t show up, even if you skate for an hour. The collection is limited, but it’s still on sale, if you’re looking for exactly this, hurry up,” Yana Z.
- Mastertouch All Day Concealer, Max Factor, (400 RUR) “Inexplicably, it covers almost all blemishes, including redness and bruising (not the most radical, but still) and lasts all day like nailed down. I forgave him for the not very aesthetic packaging,” - Yana Z. “At first I made a mistake and took it in the shade 306 Fair - and, despite the name, it was yellow. 303 Ivory turned out to be what we needed. A good basic concealer, I understand those who recommended it to me. It will not seriously cover up bruises under the eyes, but if this problem is not severe, then you can take it. The light reflection is good,” – Yulia
- Perfect Teint Concealer, Artdeco (RUB 671) – “The only concealer that suits me out of a whole bunch of recently sold ones. It has enough pigment to cover up not too pronounced under-eye circles. It doesn't fade out like some subtle reflectors, but it's not noticeable on the skin. The fifth shade is quite light, without yellowness or pink pigment. It differs from Estee Lauder in a more matte finish and dry consistency,” Lena. “It won’t work on severe bruises the first time, but the good thing is that it can be layered for a thicker coverage. True, then it becomes somewhat noticeable. It wasn’t suitable for my purposes, but if your bruises are not so severe, you might like it,” Yulia.
- Concealer Concealer, Misslyn (RUB 609) – “A workhorse. Excellent light shade 03, good texture (not dry, comfortable), slight light reflection. You can layer it for greater coverage density, but be careful, otherwise it will start to roll into folds,” Yulia.
High degree of camouflage
- Cover&Hiding Liquid Concealer, Holika Holika (475 RUR) - “According to my feelings, it is close to Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, only slightly less covering and a little more liquid (Nars feels creamier). It provides noticeable camouflage of bruises, and my friends stop telling me when they meet me, “Why are you so pale.” Naturally, you have to pay something for such pigmentation: the concealer can get stuck in wrinkles over time. Fortunately, it does not freeze tightly and can be smoothed back out simply with your finger. (But you will have to remember this necessity),” Yulia.
- Concealer True Match La Touche Magique, L'Oreal Paris (RUB 665). “The concealer surprised me - it hides bruises very well! Less pigmented than Holika Holika so requires more layering. But it is creamier, and therefore practically does not dry out. Plus the light reflection is significant,” – Yulia.
- Concealer Artclass The Camouflage, Too Cool For School, (974 RUR) - “Plasticity - 5 points, coverage - 5+, durability - also good. I don’t recommend applying it under the eyes - it will clog where it shouldn’t. But if there is a pimple or a small spot, great. Once saved me on the set, when my chin suddenly blossomed, like at 17 years old,” - Yana Z. “The most successful concealer I’ve ever tried on a budget. You can leave it to me alone and I will be happy -). Here you have both dense camouflage and excellent light reflection and light scattering. It covers bruises with a bang (I don’t agree that it shouldn’t be applied under the eyes - it should!) It practically doesn’t dry out and almost doesn’t form wrinkles. I found only one minus with it, and that’s a nitpick: you can’t cry in it -) After conjunctivitis, tears constantly flow from me, but the concealer is persistent, as a result, some of it is washed off, some stubbornly remains in place, and this is noticeable. But it’s unlikely that concealer is to blame for my conjunctivitis.) Plus, it does a good job of masking problems on other parts of the face,” Yulia.
- Youthful Wear Spotless Concealer, Physician's Formula (RUB 799) - “It has surprisingly good coverage (from such a liquid product - it flows out through the ball! - I never expected that), and it is not flat-matte. True, the shade let me down - even my light one is yellow. If you are darker than me, it’s worth taking a closer look,” – Yulia.
For masking capillary vessels and other red “imperfections”
- Concealer Color Correcting Liquid Concealer, Essence, (210 rubles) - “Quite liquid, somehow I can’t even believe that this can cover something. However, it can - and even quite serious redness at the wings of the nose. And he himself will become transparent, and will not betray his presence in any way. Doesn’t dry out, goes well with any foundation,” Yana Z.
- Magic Pen Concealer Redness Cover, Covermazing 2, Holika Holika (temporarily out of stock on the Russian website) – “Also copes well with redness. But the format is not very convenient for this - too much product is squeezed onto the brush at one time. Enough to turn red boiled crayfish into living green crayfish again, at least visually :)” - Yana Z.
Universal
- Palette of concealers and correctors Infaillible Total Cover, L'Oreal Paris (RUB 1,190) “Five shades. Lavender-violet - against general dullness and brownish-red wreaths, green - for capillaries and other redness, three shades of more or less flesh color - pigmentation of varying degrees of severity, plus contouring the wings/back of the nose and highlighting the nasolabial folds. All shades are quite flexible and transparent in a good way - that is, purple brightens and does not remain as a sovereign stain, green minimizes redness on the cheekbones, but does not reflect green itself” - Yana Z.
Worst concealers
- Concealer Re-Touch Anti-Dark Circle, Catrice (335 RUR) – “Praised in every way, but I would generally avoid it. Such a yellow plasticine concealer (see photo), IMHO, is not needed by anyone,” Lena.
- Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer, Catrice (RUB 277) – “I can’t understand everyone’s enthusiasm for it. In my opinion, it obviously dries out the skin (even mine) and is obviously noticeable on the face. What is better - a pimple or a pimple covered with this thing - is still a big question,” - Yana Z. “I already had a negative experience with it before, but I listened to persistent advice in the comments and decided to try again. And - no, guys. No. You only have one skin around your eyes and there won't be another. No need to torment her so much with this very drying concealer! No matter how he disguises himself! Take care of yourself!" - Julia.
- Concealer-corrector Hide The Blemish, Rimmel (RUR 315) “A thick plaster in a stick that will so wonderfully highlight all the imperfections that, as they say, “with such friends you don’t need enemies.” Let’s say, on young skin, where all the imperfections are a couple of pimples on the forehead and chin, this is not critical, I covered the spots and off I went. But if your skin is not young, or, for example, this pimple of yours is a little flaky, arrange a disaster for yourself out of the blue. I was especially pleased by the description on the website, which said that the product can be applied “on the eyelids as a base for eye shadow.” It is forbidden. Don't do that! — Yana Z.

Celebrity appearance flaws
No one is immune from flaws in appearance, and this also applies to the appearance of celebrities. For some, they are far-fetched, embedded in the subconscious. And there are those who are not going to hide their shortcomings.
Scarlett Johansson considers her height to be insufficient, the shape of her eyes and nose to be incorrect, and also that she has crooked legs.
Victoria Beckham considers herself scary when she smiles, and is very embarrassed about her thinness.
Despite the openness of her outfits, Shakira is very shy about her shape and body.
Cameron Diaz is embarrassed by her small breasts, considering them to be her main drawback.
Keira Knightley's slender figure is the envy of girls. But the actress is very shy about her figure, and especially her small breasts.
Claudia Schiffer thinks she's too tall. She especially feels complex about this when walking with her husband. Then high-heeled shoes are taboo for her.
Kate Upton considers her large breasts to be her disadvantage. And dreams of the first size.
Selena Gomez has a complex about the shape of her ears and hides them behind her hair.
Megan Fox turns to stunt doubles if she needs to get a close-up shot of her hands. The reason for the complex is that there are short thumbs.
Kim Kardashian is not at all shy about her curvy hips; on the contrary, she always emphasizes this part of her body.
Paris Hilton has shoe size 44, and she needs to have her shoes made to measure. There is one more drawback, the eccentric blonde has her eyes slightly squinted.
Kate Hudson is not shy about the shape of her ears, constantly flaunting them.
Halle Berry is not shy about open shoes, although the main drawback of her appearance is her protruding toe.
Kate Bosworth does not have a complex about different-colored eyes, but considers them to be her advantage.
Nicole Kidman considers her belly big, and this with such a slender figure.
Despite her revealing outfits, Jennifer Lopez hates her butt.
Angelina Jolie doesn't like the shape of her lips, considering them too big.
Kristen Stewart is embarrassed about her ears and hides them behind her hair.
The reason for complexes, Anna Kournikova has an athletic physique; she would like to be more feminine.
Britney Spears considers her shortcomings to be her hair and her toes.
In any case, you are an ordinary woman or a Hollywood celebrity. Are there any flaws in appearance or not? You need to attract people to yourself with a good attitude, the ability to think sensibly, and be a positive person. Then all the flaws become invisible.
You can, to increase your self-esteem, correct problem areas with the right clothes, hairstyle and makeup. But you shouldn’t make an inferiority complex out of your shortcomings, closing yourself off from the people around you.
What it is
This is a cosmetic product that can visually hide major imperfections.
By skillfully using different halftones, you can correct the oval: straighten the nose, emphasize the cheekbones, make the lips and eyes more expressive. In the first third of the last century, a similar product to the current product was used to disguise unsightly birthmarks in open areas, burns, and scars. The thickly applied texture perfectly hides freckles, which was also actively used during periods of fashion for smooth and clean skin.
The founder of the production of the drug specifically for decorative and cosmetic purposes was the Max Factor company in 1954. Her creamy paste created a sensation at one time and instantly became a regular fixture in the makeup bag of any Hollywood or society lady.
