Is it possible to get rid of acne? This question is often asked to dermatologists. The specialist definitely recommends that you first be examined to determine the reasons that cause the appearance of acne. The complex treatment prescribed by the doctor can be supplemented with already proven means of official and traditional medicine. Activated charcoal for acne is considered a universal drug: tablets are taken internally and externally in the form of masks.
Activated carbon combines the natural properties of a natural adsorbent - charcoal - and modern technology.
Coal found medicinal use in ancient Egypt. The ancient Greek healer Hippocrates highly appreciated the properties of charcoal as an adsorbent and a means for treating wounds. For modern medical purposes, wood, coal and other organic substances are subjected to changes without access to oxygen. The result is a carbolene with a large number of pores and high adsorption capacity.
Such features are very important for removing harmful microorganisms, toxins, and excess medications from the stomach and intestines. Carbolene for acne acts as an enterosorbent when taken orally, and also protects against adverse external factors.
The use of a very simple and affordable product in masks is based on the ability to remove dead cells from the skin, absorb particles of fat and dirt, and neutralize harmful substances.
Beneficial features
Many consider this drug to be obsolete and ineffective. This is not so, “black tablets” have high absorbent properties, do not have a negative effect on the mucous membranes (in the absence of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract), and do not have pronounced side effects (if the dosage is observed).
The drug is made from natural raw materials by heat treatment of wood. Being a powerful absorbent, it absorbs, binds and removes harmful chemical compounds from the body, preventing toxins from entering the bloodstream.
There is a close relationship between a properly functioning gut and smooth, clear skin. But if a person abuses products that provoke increased production of sebum, the excess of which leads to clogged pores, then the comprehensive use of activated carbon will not get rid of the problem, but will only partially eliminate its external manifestations.
Refusal of fatty, salty, floury, smoked and sweet foods, coupled with “carbon therapy”, helps to obtain positive results.
Correct use of activated carbon will allow you to:
- Give your facial skin a beautiful and healthy look.
- Reduce the activity of the sebaceous glands.
- Partially or completely get rid of acne.
- Eliminate oily shine.
- Make the top layer of the epidermis smoother.
- Cleanse and tighten pores.
- Relieve inflammation of the skin.
Flaws
Activated carbon can cause harm to the body if the recommendations for its use are not followed:
- the drug should not be taken uncontrolled for a long time;
- in addition to toxins and waste, carbolene is capable of removing some useful compounds;
- To treat acne with activated charcoal, a set of measures is required; the use of only one product often aggravates the problem.
Side effects and contraindications for use
The use of activated charcoal for acne should be treated with caution, as with other medications. The drug is contraindicated for peptic ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract and bleeding in the digestive organs.
External use of the powder requires careful attention to changes in the condition of the skin to prevent inflammation and complications.
Reception regimens
The internal use of charcoal tablets should not be uncontrolled; it is not such a harmless drug. Once in the gastrointestinal tract, activated carbon absorbs on its surface not only toxins, but also beneficial substances, and improper use of tablets can have a negative impact on the intestinal microflora, which will lead to a malfunction of the digestive system.
There are several different dosage regimens, but they all have something in common: the use of the drug should be a course. In most cases, the daily dosage is identical: 1 tablet per 10 kg of weight. That is, if you weigh 60 kg per day, you are allowed to take no more than 6 tablets.
Basic schemes:
- 2 hours after eating you need to take 2-3 tablets (three times a day). Course duration: 7-10 days.
- The required number of tablets (2-3) must be taken 1 hour before meals. The course of treatment is a maximum of 10 days.
- Before each meal, take 3 tablets, regardless of weight. The intensive course lasts 5-7 days.
- The entire number of tablets (calculated at 1 piece per 10 kg of weight) should be taken in the morning, after waking up, with plenty of water. This procedure is performed daily for a week.
- If body weight exceeds 70 kg, then administration is carried out according to the following scheme: on the first day you should take a “standard” number of tablets (1 pc. per 10 kg of weight), then the daily dosage is increased by 1 tablet. The course cannot exceed two weeks. The drug is taken on an empty stomach, in crushed form and must be washed down with water.
Sources of infection with rotavirus infection
The source of infection is a sick person, and even ten days after recovery, the virus continues to appear in feces. This is why it is so important to maintain household hygiene.
Infection occurs in the following ways:
- Through food or water
- Using the patient’s household items: dishes, towels, toys
- Upon contact with a sick person
The virus can be picked up in transport or in a store, which is why it is so important to wash your hands after going outside.
Rotavirus is highly resistant. Once in the human body, the pathogen infects the epithelial cells of the small intestine. Instead of affected cells, they are replaced by immature epithelial cells, which are functionally defective, which leads to enzymatic insufficiency of the intestine. In conditions of lack of enzymes, the gastrointestinal tract is not able to break down carbohydrates and especially lactose. Therefore, the patient is prescribed a special diet without dairy products and baked goods. Thus, undigested food remains enter the large intestine, fluid from surrounding tissues accumulates in it, and the patient suffers from diarrhea. As a result, dehydration occurs.
The disease does not go away until the epithelium becomes mature and the intestines are restored.
Restoration of intestinal microflora after taking activated carbon
The intestinal microflora includes about 500 species of microorganisms, including lacto- and bifidobacteria. Without them, a person will not be able to properly digest and assimilate food. The use of activated carbon is an uncontrolled process; this drug has the property of adsorbing both pathogenic microorganisms and beneficial bacteria.
To prevent dysbiosis, it is necessary to restore the balance of intestinal microflora. If the internal intake of activated carbon was correct and the duration did not exceed the permissible limits, then to restore the intestinal microflora it is recommended:
- Limit consumption of sweets and yeast baked goods.
- Reduce the amount of meat in your diet and increase the amount of vegetables and fruits.
- Introduce into the daily menu: fermented milk products, wholemeal bread, whole grain porridge.
Adherents of traditional medicine, with the consent of the doctor, can prepare tea: per glass of boiling water - 1 tsp. chamomile, the same amount of dry inflorescences of St. John's wort and nettle leaves.
To prepare this potion, it is recommended to use a thermos, increasing the proportions of the ingredients. Dosage rate: 100 g before meals, course: 10 days. During pregnancy, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and cancer, this drug is contraindicated.
Safer is oat infusion, which is prepared from 6 tbsp. l. Hercules flakes, placed in a thermos and filled with 0.5 liters of boiling water. Infusion time – 4 hours. The finished infusion is taken 100 g before each meal, the course is 3 weeks. Persons who trust official medicine should contact a competent specialist who can recommend probiotics:
- "Linex";
- "Enterol";
- "Acipol";
- "Bactistatin";
- "Bifidumbacterin".
Symptoms
The incubation period ranges from several hours to three days. Some time after infection, the patient begins to feel weak, nauseated, and the temperature rises. Then vomiting begins, it can be either single or multiple. In children, the symptoms are more pronounced and they suffer more severely from the disease. Then abdominal pain begins, which is accompanied by stool disturbances: at first it becomes mushy, then develops into diarrhea. After a few hours, the patient feels dry mouth - this is the first sign of dehydration. The patient loses weight, this is especially pronounced in children under one year old. Dehydration causes dry, cracked lips and sunken eyes. If the patient does not urinate after 6 hours, then this is a dangerous symptom of dehydration. If a child suffers a severe illness, it is best to hospitalize him. In a hospital setting, there are more opportunities to bring the child out of this state: droppers are used to eliminate dehydration.
Acne mask recipes
Activated carbon and clay face masks
With gelatin
The mask not only eliminates acne, but also has a rejuvenating effect, which is explained by the presence of collagen in its composition.
Preparation: crush one charcoal tablet and mix it with 1 tsp. gelatin, dilute 2 tbsp. l. water or similar amount of milk. Heat the resulting mixture without bringing it to a boil, and it is better to do this in a water bath. The mixture, cooled to room temperature, is applied to the face. Exposure time – 15 minutes. There is no need to rinse off the charcoal-gelatin mask with water, because after drying it can be removed from the face in one motion.
With aloe
This recipe is suitable for women with sensitive skin. In addition, aloe juice has bactericidal properties and helps relieve inflammation. To prepare the mask you will need one tablet of activated carbon, which must be crushed and diluted in 1 tbsp. l. water. Add 0.5 tsp to the resulting mixture. freshly squeezed aloe juice. Spread the resulting composition over your face using a cotton pad, leave for 15 minutes, and rinse with warm water.
With aspirin
If your skin is dry, then you cannot use this mask; the recipe is ideal for those with oily skin with enlarged pores.
Preparation: Grind a tablet of aspirin and activated carbon, mix with 1 tbsp. l. mineral water, add a pinch of gelatin. The mixture must be heated in a water bath until the gelling agent dissolves, wait until it cools to room temperature, and apply to the face. After 15 minutes, the completely frozen mass can be removed with a “stocking”.
With blue, white or green clay
Grind one charcoal tablet to a powder, mix with 1 tbsp. l. cosmetic clay and dilute with water to a thick sour cream. Apply the mixture evenly to your face and rinse with cool water after 10 minutes. It is recommended to use a brush for application.
Cleaning your facial skin at home
A sustainable result when cleansing the skin with activated carbon can be achieved only with regular use of the cosmetic product. It is optimal to apply charcoal masks 1-2 times a week for 2 months, then give the skin a rest. To achieve the desired effect, you should follow simple rules:
- Apply the mask to previously cleansed skin. It is optimal to steam your face with a herbal decoction, for which you can use chamomile, calendula, sage, and yarrow.
- Do not use an expired product that changes its properties over time and is difficult to grind.
- Crush the required amount of the drug into fine crumbs using a pestle. You can put several tablets in a plastic bag, then carefully roll them on top with a rolling pin.
- The prepared mask should have a uniform structure, without lumps. This product lies evenly on the face, providing a deep cleansing effect.
- To apply the product, use a special sponge, brush or regular cotton pad. You can apply the mask with your fingers, paying special attention to problem areas.
- The application time of the charcoal cleanser should not exceed 10 minutes. Otherwise, the face may acquire a specific shade.
- Wash off the mask with optimally warm water; you can first remove excess product with a porous sponge. After cleansing the face, apply a nourishing or moisturizing cream generously.
Before starting to use a charcoal mask, it is necessary to conduct a test for individual intolerance. To do this, apply a small amount of the product to a sensitive area of skin (elbow or wrist).
If redness, irritation, itching or other undesirable symptoms appear on the tested area, you will have to refuse to cleanse the skin with such a product.
Contraindications
Before you start taking activated charcoal, it makes sense to consult your doctor, since internal use is contraindicated if:
- pregnancy;
- frequent constipation;
- hemorrhoids;
- some diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
- internal bleeding.
Individual intolerance is a contraindication that is always first on the list. It is noteworthy that activated carbon rarely acts as an allergen. It is not recommended for use by people suffering from stomach or duodenal ulcers, as well as other diseases, the presence of which implies a violation of the integrity of the mucous membranes of the digestive organs.
