Contractubex: indications and methods of use

Composition, dosage form

In the pharmaceutical industry, Contractubex is produced in the form of an ointment: a gel-like viscous substance of light brown color with a distinct onion aroma. The product is packaged in metal tubes of 20 and 50 g.

The medicinal gel contains 3 active compounds:

  • onion extract: 10%;
  • heparin - a restorative and anti-inflammatory substance: 5000 IU per 100 g of drug weight;
  • allantoin - regenerating component: 1%.

In addition to them, the ointment contains distilled water, stabilizers and perfume.

How to choose a scar cream?

Let's decide what you need to pay attention to if you are choosing an anti-scar product:

  1. Skin type.
    If you have combination or oily skin, choose a cream-based scar treatment. The cream is well absorbed, it has a light texture, it does not clog pores and does not leave a greasy feeling. Scar ointment will not work in this case (especially if the scar is on the face) - it clogs the pores and provokes the formation of acne, and then dealing with post-acne is even more problematic.
  2. Tendency to allergies.
    You need to understand that no matter how good the remedy for scars, the body can react to any of its components. Therefore, if you are allergic, be sure to test it on your wrist before using the drug.
  3. Scar location.
    Many scar creams contain harsh ingredients that often cause irritation if applied to the face or neck (tender areas of the body). If you have a scar on your face, it is better to choose a product that is as natural as possible, has a gentle effect and rarely causes side effects.

It is not advisable to use several scar treatments at once because they can react with each other and cause unpredictable reactions. During pregnancy, scar treatments should be used with caution, since a woman’s immunity decreases, susceptibility to allergens increases - and even local products can cause allergic reactions.

pharmachologic effect

The complex of biologically active ingredients of the drug provides an antiproliferative effect, slows down the growth of coarse scar fibers, and reduces the intensity of inflammation in areas of skin damage.

Onion extract has bactericidal properties, prevents the development of suppuration, stops allergic reactions, blocks the release of inflammatory mediators, and inhibits the processes of mitosis and division of connective tissue cells. Thanks to this, the developing scars do not grow excessively.

Heparin acts on the skin, accelerating the healing of damage:

  • eliminates swelling;
  • reduces pain;
  • inhibits the division of scar tissue cells;
  • improves microcirculation and blood circulation;
  • helps reduce hyperemia and hyperthermia at the site of inflammation.

The substance helps saturate the deep layers of the dermis with moisture, which improves collagen synthesis and prevents the compaction of the scar structure. This provides damaged areas of the skin with a cosmetic effect: normal elasticity, smoothing the relief of scars.

Allantoin promotes epithelization of wounds and prevents secondary infections. The substance has pronounced keratolytic properties:

  • improves trophism;
  • softens the skin structure;
  • improves the flow of water and nutrition into cells;
  • eliminates itching, burning and pain.

The active components of Contractubex penetrate the scar tissue within 3–4 hours after application. The drug is absorbed into the systemic circulation in small quantities.
