Triderm for acne: first aid for the face (instructions for use, effectiveness and reviews)

How to take it correctly

Ointment

The medicine in the form of an ointment is used according to the following scheme: applied in a thin layer to the damaged area of the skin and around it 2 times a day. To achieve a therapeutic effect, it is important to observe regularity. The duration of the treatment course depends on the degree of infection, as well as the body’s reaction.

If the condition improves after a month, then it is worth informing a specialist so that he can make a diagnosis again.

Cream

The product in cream form is intended for topical use. The application regimen is identical to the ointment.

Cream "Triderm"

The composition of the main substances is identical. It includes quantitatively and qualitatively the same substances:

  1. Gentamicin is an antibiotic. Powerful in its action, it helps to destroy the pathogenic environment. Content – 1 mg/g.
  2. Glucocorticoid betamethasone is a hormonal agent. Perfectly relieves inflammation, redness in areas of the skin and itching. Content – 0.5 mg/g.
  3. The antimycotic clotrimazole is a substance that helps in the fight against fungal infections and infections. Content – 10 mg/g.

The main difference is the content of excipients. For cream the list is as follows:

  • Soft paraffin, Vaseline - creates a thin film when applied to the skin, which helps the substances to be better absorbed and not evaporate.
  • Phosphoric acid – protects the cream from oxidation, preservative.
  • Macrogol.
  • Alcohols.
  • Propylene glycol.
  • Sodium hydroxide.

Contraindications and adverse reactions

You should refrain from taking Triderm in the following cases:

  • chickenpox;
  • tuberculosis of the skin;
  • common herpes;
  • children under 2 years old;
  • skin manifestations of syphilis;
  • skin manifestations of the vaccine;
  • increased susceptibility to constituent components.

Particular caution should be taken when taking the medicine during long-term treatment, in young children, pregnant women, on large skin areas, or in the presence of injuries.

The following adverse reactions may occur:

  • local manifestations: burning, itching, impaired pigmentation;
  • negative reactions after taking glucocorticosteroids: burning, itching, dry skin, allergies in the form of a rash;
  • undesirable reactions after using clotrimazole: local swelling, skin irritation;
  • negative manifestations after taking gentamicin: itching (no need to stop treatment).

Instructions for use

Triderm is the best drug used in the treatment of various dermatitis.

But its application has its own characteristics. Do not apply the product to open wounds, but only to their edges. Neglecting this recommendation will result in rapid absorption of the ingredients into the blood. After a few hours, serious systemic and local side effects may occur.

If after 2 weeks of treatment the symptoms of dermatitis have not disappeared, you should consult a dermatologist. He will adjust the dose of the drug or replace it with an analogue. Triderm cannot be abruptly discontinued due to the high probability of relapse of the pathology. The ointment or cream must be diluted with a cosmetic cream, gradually reducing the concentration of the ingredients .

Indications and contraindications

Triderm is prescribed to patients with acute or chronic infectious and inflammatory skin processes. It is used to treat lichen simplex in patients if antifungal agents have been ineffective. The following pathologies are also indications for the use of cream ointment:

  • atopic and simple dermatitis
  • diffuse and limited neurodermatitis;
  • weeping and dry eczema;
  • dermatophytosis and candidiasis of the skin.

The drug has proven itself in the treatment of dermatitis caused by impaired functioning of the immune system. But you can use Triderm for facial allergies only as prescribed by a dermatologist or allergist.

It is contraindicated for use in chicken pox, syphilis, herpes simplex and tuberculous skin lesions. Triderm is not prescribed to pregnant women, children under 2 years of age and patients with hypersensitivity to its components.

Directions for use and doses

Ointment and cream are applied pointwise to the inflamed areas of the epidermis in the morning and evening hours. Before the procedure, the skin is treated with antiseptic solutions. The duration of treatment does not exceed 3 weeks due to the likelihood of systemic side effects. Single dosages are determined only by a doctor, taking into account the results of laboratory tests. Triderm for the treatment of inflammation on the face is used in minimal doses once a day.

Features of use for acne

A serious drawback of cream and ointment is “withdrawal syndrome”. After abrupt cessation of treatment, all symptoms not only return, but also intensify. There are more rashes, and the inflammatory process occurring in them becomes more intense. What doctors advise:

  • contact a dermatologist and take a scraping to immediately identify fungi and bacteria;
  • be fully examined to exclude diseases of the internal organs.

Triderm ointment should be used only as prescribed by a doctor. To eliminate acne, it is better to use drugs with an antibacterial and drying effect. After the destruction of microorganisms, pain and inflammation quickly disappear, and the skin gradually clears. Such medicines are available in the form of gels and foams with a delicate structure.

Side effects

Triderm has a particularly negative effect on the urinary organs and liver when used irrationally. But more often local adverse reactions develop:

  • dryness and skin maceration;
  • rashes, swelling, redness;
  • prickly heat;
  • stretch marks;
  • skin atrophy;
  • acne;
  • dark spots.

In rare cases, dizziness, migraines, nausea, vomiting, and peristalsis disorders occur.

Is it possible to take Triderm during pregnancy?

During the period of bearing a child, the use of the drug is possible only as prescribed by a doctor and under constant supervision. In this case, the possible beneficial result must significantly outweigh the possible threat to the developing fetus and the expectant mother. It is better not to use the cream for a long time or on large areas of skin.

During breastfeeding, it is strictly forbidden to take the drug, since there is no data regarding the possibility of excretion of the constituent components together with breast milk.

Difference

Firstly, the composition . The list of excipients, the so-called “formative substances,” is both quantitatively and qualitatively different: if the ointment contains only petroleum jelly and soft paraffin, then the cream already contains seven of these positions. This is why cream and ointment differ in their consistency and scope of application.

Secondly - texture . The ointment has a denser texture. Due to this, it takes longer to be absorbed. From this it follows that the action is longer, and the effect of using the medicine will be longer. Doctors recommend using it in cases where the skin is flaky and very dry, with severe severe lesions of large areas of the skin. You should not apply ointment to open wet wounds; it is better to use cream.

The cream is light, has a more pronounced drying effect due to the alcohol content, and after drying it leaves a thin film that dries the wound, preventing infections and pathogenic microorganisms from entering. It is absorbed faster and does not create a greenhouse effect, in which even more pathogenic microflora can develop.

Thirdly, the ointment is most often used for complex, extensive lesions, while the cream is effective for dermatitis and mild skin diseases.

For a home first aid kit, the best purchase would be a cream; due to the auxiliary ingredients, it can be stored much longer than an ointment. If necessary, the ointment should be purchased in a small tube.

special instructions

The shelf life of the cream is 36 months, the ointment is 24 months. It should be stored in a dry and dark place, out of reach of children, at room temperature.

The interaction of the drug with other drugs has not been considered.

The drug in any form cannot be used in ophthalmology.

Long-term use of topical antibiotics can sometimes cause resistant microflora. In case of such reactions, you should stop taking the medication and begin symptomatic therapy.

The absorption of the active components into the systemic circulation when used locally increases if therapy occurs with the use of occlusive dressings or on large areas of the skin, especially with long-term therapy or when the skin is injured.

It is better not to allow gentamicin to come into contact with open wounds or injured areas, as this can lead to the development of side effects.

With prolonged use of Triderm, its withdrawal should occur gradually.

The effect of the medication on the ability to drive a vehicle and other dangerous mechanisms has not been established.

Does Triderm help with acne?

Pimples appear on the face due to increased secretion of the sebaceous glands. Sebum loses its bactericidal properties and changes consistency. It becomes more dense, forms plugs and blocks the ducts. Often, pathogenic bacteria and sometimes pathogenic fungi penetrate the sebaceous glands. Under their influence, an inflammatory process occurs, and a purulent mass forms in the pores. To treat acne or single pimples, you need a drug with a complex effect:

  • anti-inflammatory;
  • antibacterial;
  • antimycotic;
  • antimicrobial.

Triderm has these properties. It stops inflammation during the day, destroys staphylococci and streptococci.

But dermatologists strongly do not recommend using it to eliminate pimples on the face.

The drug contains the glucocorticosteroid betamethasone. A hormonal agent can penetrate the bloodstream and provoke systemic side effects.

Analogs

Proven analogues include:

Kanizon. Available in the form of cream, solution and tablets. The drug is effective for various diseases and joint problems.

Lokoid. It is produced in the form of ointment and cream. It has a local antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Betasalik. Available in the form of an ointment. It is a drug of combined action. has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antiallergic effects.

Triactutan. Sold in the form of ointment and cream. It has antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.

Basically, the price of analogues will be lower than Triderma.

Description of the drug

The combined drug is intended for the treatment of severe skin pathologies. They are usually caused by a decrease in the functional activity of the immune system. It mistakes the body's cells for foreign proteins and begins to attack. This is manifested by rashes on the skin, severe swelling and redness. Open wounds become infected, triggering an acute inflammatory process. In such cases, dermatologists often prefer the drug Triderm. It is characterized by numerous positive properties:

  • active ingredients penetrate into the deepest layers of the epidermis;
  • the antibiotic is active against most pathogenic bacteria;
  • glucocorticosteroid prevents the spread of inflammation to healthy tissue.

During treatment with Triderm, the use of other external agents is usually not required. At the initial stage of the disease, a cream with a light structure is used. It does not form a protective film on the surface of the skin. Molecular oxygen easily penetrates damaged tissues, accelerating their regeneration. After the wounds heal, the doctor prescribes an ointment. Its use helps prevent secondary infection and becomes the best prevention of relapses.

pharmachologic effect

Triderm is a combination drug from the group of external agents for the treatment of skin inflammatory pathologies. Its pharmacological action is based on the properties of the active ingredients:

  • betamethasone is a synthetic analogue of a hormone produced by the adrenal cortex. Stops the inflammatory process, eliminates swelling, skin itching and redness. After applying the cream or ointment, discomfort quickly disappears - pain, stinging, burning;
  • Clotrimazole is an antimycotic agent that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol. The compound is characterized by a wide spectrum of activity. It inhibits the growth and reproduction of pathogenic yeast-like fungi, including those from the genus Candida;
  • Gentamicin is an antibacterial component of ointment and cream. It is capable of destroying both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. Pathogenic bacteria slowly develop resistance to it. This allows Triderm to be used as a monotherapy.

The hormonal external agent also has an antiallergic effect. It prevents the accumulation of exudate in inflammatory foci and improves microcirculation.

When asked by patients whether it is possible to smear Triderm on the face, dermatologists in most cases answer negatively. This is possible only in case of acute allergic inflammation, which other drugs cannot eliminate.

Release form and composition

The Belgian manufacturer produces Triderm in sealed aluminum tubes.
Each contains 15.0 or 30.0 g of external agent. The secondary packaging of the drug is a cardboard box with attached instructions for use. The cream has a soft, uniform consistency. The structure of the ointment is more fatty and oily. The active ingredients of both dosage forms are betamethasone, clotrimazole and gentamicin sulfate. And the composition of the auxiliary components varies significantly:

  • ointment - liquid and soft paraffins;
  • cream - propylene glycol, phosphoric acid and its derivatives, petroleum jelly, cetostearyl and benzyl alcohols, macrogol, paraffin, distilled water.

The drug should be stored in a dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. The shelf life of the cream is 36 months, the ointment is 24 months. Do not use products if they change consistency, color, or develop a foreign odor.
