All this leads to disruption of fibroblast activity, loss of the ability of skin cells to divide and the ability to renew. The structural integrity of the dermis is disrupted, its qualitative and quantitative composition changes (the amount of intracellular fluid, the shape of the nucleus and mitochondria decreases). Over time, the skin's production of collagen and elastin decreases, the structural composition of collagen changes - it becomes stiffer, its fibers become randomly oriented, which affects the density of the skin. As a result, the face becomes covered with fine wrinkles, the healthy tone and oval shape are lost. Changes appear that are characteristic of your type of skin aging. The speed of these skin changes depends on the individual, genetically programmed characteristics of the skin, as well as on the influence of various factors: sleep and rest patterns, quality of nutrition, mechanical pressure (sleeping face down on a pillow, computer posture “hand on the chin”), chemicals, etc.

Methods for preventing and treating pastiness

The best way to prevent edema is a healthy lifestyle: proper nutrition, sports, swimming, massages, lymphatic drainage procedures.

4. An increase in water in the intercellular space due to a lack of proteins in the blood plasma, which retain water molecules in the bloodstream.
5. Increased permeability of the vascular wall, when fluid can easily leave the cells and enter the surrounding tissue.
6. Violation of lymph outflow.

Causes of pastosity

There are two groups of causal factors.

Pathological conditions accompanied by sodium retention in the body:

• liver cirrhosis (severe course with symptoms of portal hypertension);
• kidney disease (impaired excretory function);
• excess mineralocorticoids in the body, which contributes to the retention of sodium ions and water in the body;
• taking medications (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids).

Decrease in protein (albumin fraction):

• liver disease (protein synthesis is impaired);
• nephrotic syndrome (protein is lost in the urine).

Symptoms of pastiness

Pastiness is a symptom that can occur at any time of the day.

Pasty face in the morning. Associated with prolonged horizontal position and looseness of the subcutaneous tissue of the face. It is most often localized in the periorbital region. It gradually goes away, this is due to the transition to a vertical position and the gradual outflow of fluid. Pathological swelling of the face is observed in kidney diseases.

Pastiness in the evening. It is observed in heart failure in the form of gravitational pastosity of the lower extremities. The lower leg area loses its relief and, when pressure is applied to the skin, pits from the fingers remain.

What is body pastiness? It can be observed with excessive consumption of salt and water, during pregnancy, during the premenstrual period, with insomnia, and general fatigue. The fluid is distributed evenly, and the swelling goes away when the causative factors are eliminated.

Osteopaths believe that the central nervous system is at the core of integration. The central nervous system suffers when blood flow, lymph outflow and movement of the bones of the skull are disrupted. These problems impair the functionality of the entire body.

It is based on two principles: causal and organ.

Classification:
